Fact Check: Companies Do NOT Need Children To Get Adrenochrome Made In A Lab

Do companies use children for the purpose of obtaining adrenochrome? No, that's not true: The chemical is produced synthetically in labs, not via "apprehensive children." Furthermore, the concentration of adrenochrome in the bloodstream, analogous to adrenaline, is negligible, according to biochemists.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) by @kontrola.tienov on November 9, 2023, under the title (translated from Czech to English by Lead Stories staff) "Products from children?" It began:

Not too long ago, social media were inundated with documents from a company purporting to manufacture specific substances derived from living children.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

The woman in the video describes an unnamed company that utilizes children in the production of a certain substance. From the context, she is referring to adrenochrome. References to this claim have persisted in social media groups for a long time. These references are tied to the North American conspiracy theory QAnon, asserting that this substance, purportedly extracted from the blood of distressed children, functions as a fountain of eternal youth.

Contrary to these claims, adrenochrome, or the chemical compound C9H9NO3, is "readily synthesized" within controlled laboratory environments. Biochemist Igor Kučera clarifies for Cesky rozhlas (Czech Radio) that adrenochrome does not possess any miraculous properties. Additionally, it is commercially available for purchase in specialized stores.
