Fact Check: 'Russian Passport' Of Olena Zelenska, First Lady Of Ukraine, Is NOT Authentic Manipulated

Does Olena Zelenska, first lady of Ukraine, hold a Russian passport that Russians found in the apartment and she and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have in Yalta, Crimea? No, that's not true: The photo on her purported Russian passport shown in a social media claim comes from an Instagram post from March 20, 2023, while the passport states it was issued in 2014.

The story appeared in a video (archived here) on TikTok where it was published by @branislavhric8 on October 1, 2023. It opened (translated from Czech by Lead Stories Staff as):

In Zelensky's flat in Crimea, a Russian passport of his wife was found. During the assessment of the value of the confiscated flat of Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Crimea, his wife's bag was found in a cache. It contained a Russian passport with the name Zelenskaya and a solid amount of cash.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

While the photo in the alleged passport was lifted from her Instagram profile, there is further evidence that the passport shown on TikTok is fake -- for example, the numbers on the far right of the passport "20 20" indicate that the passport was issued in the Voronezh region. However, the inscription at the top of the passport indicates that the passport was issued in the Republic of Crimea. The Voronezh region is located several hundred kilometers from Crimea.
