Fact Check: George Soros Does NOT Own The Daily Beast As Claimed By Jim Caviezel Does Not Own

Does George Soros own The Daily Beast online news organization? No, that's not true: George Soros has NOT owned any shares of the IAC Inc that co-founded The Daily Beast in 2008, since the second quarter of 2019 when he sold all his remaining shares of the company.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) on TikTok account of @bezpressunews on May 24, 2023 under the title "Actor Jim Caviezel: 'We are in an apocalyptic moment right now'". It opened:

You cannot say anything bad on George Soros. Do you know that he owns many of these (media) companies like The Daily Beast?

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

Jim Caviezel is an American actor who has publicly espoused elements of the child trafficking and adrenochrome drugging conspiracy known as QAnon.

The Daily Beast is a website dedicated to news and commentary, culture and entertainment. It was founded in 2008 by Tina Brown, the media maven and former New Yorker and Vanity Fair editor, and Barry Diller, founder of IAC Inc and its senior executive and chairman.

IAC Inc is a New York based company which engages in media and Internet business. It operates 11 public companies and more than 150 brands and products.

Despite George Soros selling nearly 170 thousand shares in the second quarter of 2018 (out of 92.6 million fully diluted IAC shares) there is no evidence of links in 2023 to Barry Diller and no evidence that Soros had a say in the running of The Daily Beast.
