Were Czech flags banned at a rally in Prague to mark the anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and to show Czech support for the war-torn country? No, that's not true: One of the co-organizers confirmed to Lead Stories by phone that Czech flags were not banned at the event. In addition, video recordings of the whole event and media reports show that people in the crowd were holding Czech, Ukrainian, and EU flags.
The claim appeared in a video (archived here) published on TikTok on February 23, 2025. It features a screenshot of a social media post by Raptor-Tv.cz, showing an image of Czech President Petr Pavel speaking at the February 23, 2025, rally in Prague and the crowd holding Ukrainian flags. The text visible in the screenshot reads in Czech, translated into English by Lead Stories staff:
Ban on Czech flags in Old Town Square. New level of absurdity.

Raptor-TV is an account that spreads pro-Russian propaganda and is linked to pro-Russian activist Zarko Jovanovic, according to Czech media outlet iRozhlas.cz (archived here).
The TikTok video refers to a rally held in Prague's Old Town Square (archived here) on February 23, 2025, to mark the anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine and express solidarity with the ravaged country. Czech President Petr Pavel (see screenshot below) also attended the event and took to the stage.

All major Czech media covered the rally, and their news reports and broadcasts here (archived here) or here (archived here) clearly show that several Czech and EU flags were being displayed. Most of the flags were Ukrainian, though, which is not surprising as the rally was held to show support for Ukraine.

A spokesman for one of the rally's co-organizers, the Czech NGO People in Need (archived here), Ladislav Brustik, also confirmed to Lead Stories on March 3, 2025, by phone that there was no ban on Czech flags at the rally.
